S56 - A good 'un

Written by TEAM BOBYN at 19:50 8/5-2021

S56 was a good season for TB, joint second best in the tean's history, completing most of the season's objectives and a number of riders, notably Vajda and Kapriyanov really came to the fore. Good to see the season finish comfortably in D5, also recognising a considerable amount of time spent in D4 and it was particulaly pleasing to see that the team was competitive at this level and picking up points and in some cases even podiums.

Bugayev finally broke his duck by picking up his first win in the D7 Geneve, while Kapriyanov picked up TB's second win in the D6 Pie Corner. and also TB's best ever performance in D4 (2nd in the Tipitapa TT) However fans rider of the season with the most improved performance (+2900 places) goes to Slovak Hillster Vit Vajda in picking up his best ever season, including some valuable points in D4 plus his sterling efforts on home ground in the Cesko - normally a tour that eludes us.

Team Manager Barry said "A great season for TB, really pleasing to see the progress made by Vajda and Kapriyanov and good to see Bugayev get his first win. Hope to see Spearman make an impact in his final swansong season for S57."

   In summary:

   Pts: 515 (+123pts)
   Division: E (5) (+1 Divisions)
Rank: Ukraine 2nd (-place) worldwide 271th (+75 places)
   Team Value 1.559m (+111k)

   Personnel & Tactical Changes
No major changes, Bugayev will remain as Team Captain and Spearman as VC, in what will be his final season. Vajda will be backup Captain and will be replacment Captain during Bugayev's sabbatical. A number of exciting prospects for the future including Chupov, Zhivenkov, Volkov, Dmitriyev and Arshavin promise to be exciting prospects for the future.

   International:
Ukraine continued to make strives in the Internationals, including it's first appearrance in the CoN. Pleased to see TB's own Ukrainian contingent - Bugayev (4 caps), Nechayev (2caps), Voronkov (3 Caps) Davydov (2 cap) all making valuable contributions.

U23 - NOt much to see here !

   Ukraine Honours
   Pidhirne - Zhuravky, D4 Spearman 10th
   Kovel - Kovel, D6 Spearman 10th (equalled Nicholson's record S34)

   Tours & Cups

TB were able to enter four tours this season with some good individual performances - Vajda was outstanding at the Cesko and Bugayev replicated his GC place in the Stone City - although the final stage in the Stone City still continues to be a curse on TB.

Tian Shen Stone City Cup (D5). Equalled Best GC Placement , improved
   av.pos.
   GC Ivan Bugayev (S54, S55 & S56 9th)
   Av.Pos. Ivan Bugayev (S54 13th)

Monte Rosa Tour (D5) - Equalled best stage Performance

   Av.Pos - Myatlev (S50) 37th

   Kapriyanov (S56) Bern Prologue

Cesko-Slovensky-Pohar (D6) Best GC, Av. Pos and Stage Performance
   GC Vit Vajda (S56 5th)
   Av.Pos. Vit Vajda (S56 11th)
   Best Stage Performance:

   GC - n/a
   Sprint Classification - Liam Roberts (S49) 3rd.
   Av.Pos - Liam Roberts (S49) 21st (+16 places)
   Stage Performance -
   Liam Roberts (S47) 3rd Fuji-Tokyo
   Liam Roberts (S49) 3rd Nagoya-Kyoto

   Objectives for S57
I was thinking of taking a sabbitical for the whole team for S57 but as the team actually did quite well for S56 and S57 is likely to be Spearman and Yemelyanenko's last seasons - we'll give it a thorough go.

   (i) Be top ranked Ukraine Side (S56-fail)
(ii) Finish in D4 - get some exposure to D4 (S56 - finish in D5Met)
   (iii) Target 2 x wins.(S56-Met)
(iv) Participate in at least one tour, improve on one of best performances.(S56 -Exceed)
   (v) Increase Team value to $1.6mk (S56 - $1.5mk - succeed)
(vi) Participate and progress stats in any UKraine race that becomes available (ultimate aim to win all Ukraine's 12 races). (S56 - participate - pass)
(vii) Finish top 8 of the FSU sides. (ranked 8th in S56 - Met)

   Good Luck Everyone for S57!!!

A few interesting results there. Happy to see Kapriyanov performing well. Vajda's performance at the Cesky Slovensko Pohar is also worth mentioning.
